Jose, a queer Filipino artist based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary), He engages in interdisciplinary exploration, encompassing interactive media, digital art, and craft. His work draws inspiration from themes of nature and ecological posthumanism.
Often in his works, he critiques forms of anthropocentrism, attempting to re-shift perspectives to align with the ecosystems people call home. He is interested in augmenting existing architecture and occasionally the cyber space, using light and technology to create futures centered on sustainable thinking. Deeply, he cares about the world and hopes that through sharing his work and inspiring collaboration that we may create possibilities that could help remedy the ecological crisis.
He has been involved with the creation of public art installations with STEPS Public Art, Chinook Blast, and N!ght L!ght festival. Recently he also co-produced an experimental performance during Live Biennale 2023 in Vancouver.
Jose may be observed in the evening hours creating temporary projection mapping installations, outside industrial and transient spaces within the Calgary Area.
